about me
Hello! My name is Mary Grace Schmid. Originally from Michigan, I moved to Waco in 2015 to attend Baylor University. I started my college career knowing that I was passionate about writing and creating content that was not only visually appealing but also informative. After changing my major three times, I finally found a career path that challenged me to think critically and create effectively. I graduated in 2019 with a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, and New Media, with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Political Science.
I was never bored during my time at Baylor. I was a member of the Student Foundation, a service-based organization that raises money for student scholarships. Through the Student Foundation, I was the apparel chair for the “Bearathon,” a half marathon that raises thousands of dollars for student scholarships. I was also a member of the Zeta Chi chapter of Alpha Delta Pi, where I served on both the Alumni Relations and Public Relations Committees.
I’ve always been drawn to stories that are relatable yet impactful. In a world of limitless information, I aim to find stories and voices with insights the world needs to hear. I want to share these stories in a way that people can understand and relate to. I’ve been very fortunate to work in various environments throughout my career that have formed me into the professional I am today. From creating social media content for a minor baseball league to working as a public information coordinator at a government agency, I’ve learned a lot about adapting quickly and continuously developing my communication skills.
Outside of my professional life, I love spending as much time outdoors as possible. You can find me exploring local parks, honing my photography skills, listening to music, and hanging out with my cat, Kingston.
